Q: What do you have in-stock?
A: We stay competitive with internet prices from dealers in New York and Los Angeles. The way we do this is keep our overhead very low. We sell over 25,000 individual products. We keep about 0.5% of this here in Portland. The rest we let our manufactures warehouse for us. Even thought the product isn’t here in Portland we can usually put it in your hands in about 3-7 days. If you need it faster just tell us. Most of our manufactures support 1-day shipping. Here’s another way to think about it. We sell over 200 different tripods alone. If i kept one of every tripod in-stock here in Portland i would have to charge you 3-8% more for it. Most people these days just aren't willing to pay for that trade off.
Q: You guys are the really expensive right? You’re small and local, you must be expensive.
A: The great news is that we’re not expensive at all. We charge absolutely no premium at all for being a small shop, for being a local shop, or for working face to face with a human being. Compare us to any authorized dealer, B&H, Sammy’s, Abel Cinetech. Go ahead, compare. We’re not scared. What you’ll find is that legitimate authorized dealers usually sell gear at about the same prices. We’re no different. We check the competition daily. We know every day what our competitors are doing and we keep up.
Q: Whats your return policy?
A: If it’s a product that we had sitting on the shelf and it’s less then $1,000 and it’s been under one week feel free bring it back with zero restocking charge if purchased with cash or debit, 3% restocking if purchased with a credit card. If its a product that we had shipped in for you then it falls to our individual manufacture return policies. Some of our manufactures have a one week window, some have a one month window, some have a zero tolerance policy. Larger purchases, above $1,000, have a restocking fee of varying sizes depending on the product. Typically the minimum is 15%.
Q: Can i try it before i buy it?
A: Oh yes you can. We would greatly encourage you to. We want you to get the right gear the first time. Lets use cameras as an example. At any time we usually sell about 45 different cinema, broadcast, and hand held video cameras. That doesn’t even count robotic or PTZ cameras. We don’t have all 45 here to try. We usually have about 6 here to try. So what happens when we don’t have what you want to try? We get it in for you. All of our manufactures have demo and evaluation programs. If you want to see something lets set up a time. We’ve done shootouts with $100,000 worth of cinema cameras for customers, all on request. But the key was we scheduled it a few days in advance.
Q: Do you rent stuff?
A: Kinda. We’re not a rental company. There are some great rental houses here in the Northwest. Many of these rental houses are our best customers. But we do have some products kicking around here. We’ve always got a few cameras, a few lights, some mics, some lenses, and some other goodies. We’d rather it goes out on your shoot then sits here and collects dust.
Q: How do i buy something from you?
A: We have about 4 employees total. We keep some of our most popular items on our on-line web store. Since a giant on-line web catalog isn’t possible for us we like to focus on our strengths, face to face and voice to voice interaction. It might be old fashioned but we think talking to people still has benefits. Call us up and place an order over the phone or come into the shop and place an order in person.
Q: Do you ship?
A: We ship any where UPS or FedEx goes. While we do sell a lot in the Portland metro area we ship all over the Northwest daily. Every single day boxes leave our facility and head out to Washington, Idaho, Alaska, or just to the other side of the Willamette River.
Q: How often to you receive and send out shipments?
A: Every single day. We have daily UPS and FedEx pickups. Fast shipping on all items!
